Red Fox Family
Storm is a red fox with a rare recessive gene that gives him his beautiful white coat and striking pale eyes. While most red foxes are known for their reddish-orange fur, Storm and his two brothers share this special coloring, making them stand out within their fox family.
Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are highly adaptable animals found throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. In the wild, they live in forests, grasslands, and even near human communities. Red foxes are clever hunters and scavengers, feeding on small mammals, birds, insects, fruits, and plants.
Storm is part of a happy family of five red foxes at EARS, including three white male foxes—Storm and his two brothers—and two female foxes with traditional red coloring, including Wild Fire and her sister. Their different coat colors come from genetics, but they all share the same curious personalities and natural instincts of wild foxes.
Unfortunately, foxes with unusual coat colors are sometimes bred because of their appearance. Foxes are wild animals and do not make suitable pets. Once raised in captivity, they usually cannot survive in the wild because they lack the skills needed to hunt and live independently.

At EARS, Storm enjoys:
- A secure, enriched habitat designed for the needs of active and curious foxes
- Space to explore, dig, and express natural fox behaviors
- Daily enrichment activities that encourage curiosity and problem-solving
- A balanced diet that meets the nutritional needs of a wild fox
- The companionship of his fox family in a safe and structured environment
Sanctuaries like EARS provide a safe and stable home for animals like Storm and his family who cannot return to the wild. Here, they receive lifelong care, enrichment, and protection in an environment that supports their natural instincts.
Storm’s bright white coat and lively personality make him a favorite among visitors, while his playful interactions with his brothers and the rest of the fox family bring smiles to everyone who watches them.
Why Foxes Need a Sanctuary
Red foxes are intelligent and active animals that require space, enrichment, and specialized care. Many foxes are bred for unusual coat colors or sold as exotic pets, but their wild instincts make them difficult to manage in home environments.
Because foxes raised in captivity often lack survival skills, they cannot be safely released into the wild. Sanctuaries provide a safe place where rescued foxes receive proper nutrition, enrichment, and lifelong care.
At EARS, Storm, Wild Fire, and their fox family live in a secure environment where their physical and behavioral needs are carefully supported every day.
